ABOUT ME
I went through education from kindergarten, primary school, secondary school, and STPM in my hometown. Currently, I’m a third year Economics undergraduate under School of Social Science, in a well-known international university- Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Besides studying Economics as the main subjects, I also take courses like translation, psychology and Japanese language. These enable me to learn more things besides my core subjects.
I do realize a lot of parents nowadays take education as a very important key for the successfulness of their children. To me, I do believe that learning via the process is much more important than the achievement in the exam. Learning should be a joyous process, and not simply just a forced action to achieve good results in the examinations. The best achievement would be to learn what have been learned and to apply the knowledge correctly in our daily life- practice it!
My favourite subject is Malay language. This might shock a number of Chinese people, as Malay could be a subject most Chinese weak in. Peculiarly, I find Malay language as a language that enables people to communicate better, especially in Malaysia, where high percentage of the community comprised of Malays. Able to speak fluently in Malay is significantly vital for Malaysian pupils and students as well. This is because most of the subjects are taught in Malay language in secondary school. Hence, learning of Malay language should be considered as an important task. Loving toward this subject did encourage me to participate in some competitions like public speaking, debates and declamation of poems in my past school life. Thus, a simple basic language of Malay should be learned, understood, used and practiced in daily life.
I only started to learn Japanese language in my tertiary education. Knowing more languages make my life more interesting. Imagine you know to read, write, listen and speak one more language that you never exposed to before. You will gain self-esteem- a component of the motivation theory by Abraham Maslow.
ABOUT SESSION
First of all, I would like to clarify my main objective of tutoring is to encourage pupils/ students to be able to practice what they learned, and not being a bookworm who just memorizes everything.
For primary school Malay, Chinese and Mathematics, I will give explanation and examples for the material given. Language used during the tutoring process will involve any languages (Malay, Chinese, English, dialects) that better suited the pupil/ student individually to enable better understanding of the learners. The scope will be concentrated on their syllabus, yet I would like to provide them extra information which might be something they will learn at a higher level of education. For example, the ways to write an essay.
For secondary school Malay (PT3 and SPM), I would like to clarify that I will only concentrate on grammar (tatabahasa) and essay (esei/ karangan). The scope will be concentrated on their syllabus, yet I would like to provide them extra information which might be something they will learn at a higher level of education. For example, the ways to write an essay.
My style would be to teach anything that I know as best as I can to those who are willing to learn. There should be no barriers of learning scopes, means not just limited to their syllabus. I believe by now you know my teaching style and objectives. This is important to make it clear and to let the parents/ guardians/ pupils/ students to know as well before they choose me as their tutor.
For Japanese, I will say this is open to any age of people who wish to learn a new language. I will cover Hiragana, Katagana, and Kanji. This session will involve reading, listening, writing and speaking. Dialogue and some daily/common usage words will be taught as well so that the learners can practice them in daily life. Language used during the tutoring process will involve any languages (Malay, Chinese, English, dialects) that better suited the pupil/ student individually to enable better understanding of the learners.
